WOMEN
IN ISLAM Women in Islam are equal to men. Fundamental Rights were given to them over 1500 years ago. Many of the rights granted to women by Islam, are still not enjoyed by non-muslim women or they have recently received them. For example, in Islam, women were given the right to vote over 1500 years ago, and in the United States women were given the right to vote in the Twentieth century. The list does not end with the right to vote. Muslim women have the rights to own property, choose their own partners, divorce, abortion when necessary, education and sexual satisfaction in marriage, etc. What other religion allows a woman to divorce her husband if he is not performing in the bedroom? I can only think of Islam. Islam recognizes the natural differences and still proclaims both sexes to be of equal status. A person might ask, If Islam proclaims both sexes as being equal then why is it that in many Muslim countries, women are treated so miserably? The cause of their misery lies in their cultural practices, not Islam. In some Muslim societies, women are oppressed by backward ethnic customs which are often justified in terms of Islam. For example, while Islam undeniably goes against female circumcision, this brutality is practiced in the Sudan, Algeria, and Egypt in the name of Islam. It is actually an African tribal custom. While Islam demands that women must choose their own husbands, forced marriages are common place amongst the Muslims in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. One must remember that the ancestors of Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshes were Hindus. These people mix bits of Hinduism with Islam and label it Islam. It is time to educate these uninformed Muslims about the true nature of Islam. Modern day scholars have realized
this catastrophe and they are doing everything they can to educate muslims and non-muslims
about the "true nature of Islam". THE REAL ISLAM GIVES EQUALITY TO WOMEN, BUT IGNORANT INDIVIDUAL WHO DO NOT KNOW THE REAL ISLAM OPPRESS WOMEN UNDER THE NAME OF ISLAM. WOMEN ENJOYED GREAT PROSPERITY AND EQUALITY DURING MUHAMMAD'S DAYS, AND FOR SOMETIME AFTER. FOLLOW THE ISLAM OF THE QUR'AN, NOT THAT OF THE NARROW-MINDED NEIGHBORHOOD MULLAH OR CORRUPT SCHOLAR. READ THE QUR'AN FOR YOURSELVES AND THINK!
